PUBLIC WORKS / UTILITY OPERATOR ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Duration:  16 weeks (35 hours per week), May 7 to August 24, 2018
Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, the employee will be responsible and accountable for duties related to water sewer systems, road maintenance and building facilities.
Job responsibilities include: operation of light vehicles, small commercial tractors, tools and other specialized maintenance tools and equipment, minor road repair, crack sealing, crosswalk painting, pothole repairs, sidewalk repairs, inspection and inventory, inspections and installation, hydrant inspections & painting, exercising of water valves, minor repairs to buildings, inputting data on the asset management system and other related duties as assigned.
Applicant must have a strong work ethic and motivation, a valid driver’s license prior to being hired, and be a resident of Alberta. Priority will be given to post secondary students returning to school in the fall semester, experience relating to the position, and to those who can provide certification in First Aid or willingness to obtain prior to employment date.


PARKS & RECREATION & FACILITY OPERATOR ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Duration:  16 weeks (35 hours per week), May 7 to August 24, 2018
Will be responsible and accountable for daily maintenance of ball diamonds, the operation and maintenance of the RV & Day Use Park, Centennial & Citadel Park facilities and trail system.
Job Responsibilities include: operation of light vehicles, commercial mowers, tractors, small cutting/hedge trimming machinery, power tools and other specialized seasonal maintenance equipment, grass cutting, daily grooming of shale ball diamonds, fence repairs, inspection of playground equipment, painting, signage, carpentry, maintenance of light equipment & mowers, with construction and landscaping projects, horticulturist/arborist duties and other related duties as assigned.
Applicant must have a strong work ethic and motivation, a valid driver’s license prior to being hired, and be a resident of Alberta. Priority will be given to post secondary students returning to school in the fall semester, experience relating to the position, and to those who can provide certification in First Aid or willingness to obtain prior to employment date.


PARKS & RECREATION & FACILITY OPERATOR & PLAYGROUND ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Duration:  8 weeks (35 hours per week), July 9 to August 31, 2018
Duties may include the combination of 2 positions: Parks & Recreation & Facility Assistant and/or Playground Assistant between July 9-August 31/18.
Responsibilities and details of each position can be found under the Parks & Recreation & Facility Operator Assistant listed above and responsibilities for Playground Assistant which are listed below.
Applicant will require certification in First Aid or willingness to obtain prior to employment date and must have a valid class 5 driver’s license prior to employment.


OFFICE ASSISTANT / PLAYGROUND RECREATION PROGRAM LEADER COMBINED (1 Position)

Duration:  8 weeks (35 hours per week), July 3 to August 24, 2018
Duties will include the combination of 2 positions: Playground Program Leader (from July 9-August 3) which consists of planning, implementing and evaluating a leadership program for children ages 4 to 10 years old and Office Assistant (from August 4-24) which consists of general office duties.
Applicant must work effectively and efficiently with others; experience working with children.
Applicant requires certification in First Aid or willingness to obtain prior to employment date and must have a valid class 5 driver’s license prior to employment.


PLAYGROUND RECREATION ASSISTANT (1 Position)

Duration:  4 weeks (35 hours per week), July 9 to August 3, 2018
Individuals will be responsible for the care and supervision of children aged 4 to 6 years in the mornings (8:45 am to 12:00 pm) and children aged 7 to 10 years in the afternoon (12:45 pm to 4:15 pm). The applicant must possess leadership qualities, a good work ethic and be self-motivated; proficient in planning and implementing age appropriate activities for the duration of the program.
Applicants must work effectively and efficiently with others or alone; experience working with children and other related experience. Priority will be given to those who can provide certification in First Aid or willingness to obtain prior to employment date.
* In the event that we do not receive applications for the full 4 week position, 2 applicants may be considered for a 2 week interval.
