Parks Maintenance

The Public Works department strives to keep the community’s parks and recreational areas at their finest. Town staff maintains the parks, playgrounds, trails, trees and shrubs, green spaces, sports fields, and recreational facilities.

This includes maintaining and watering of trees, plants, flower beds, hanging baskets and planters; mowing, trimming, weeding and landscaping parks, sports fields, repairing damaged playground or park equipment; maintaining parks; and preparing sports fields for user groups.

During the winter months, Public Works staff ensures that snow and ice is removed from in front of Town buildings and facilities, outdoor rinks and trails.

Playgrounds

All Town owned playgrounds are inspected regularly, minor repairs are completed immediately with work orders created for larger tasks. Required repairs are completed in a timely manner.

Trails & Sidewalks

The Public Works Department is responsible for repair and maintenance for all trails and sidewalks within the Town. This includes snow removal (of trails and Town owned sidewalks), mowing and repairing trip hazards.

Tree Maintenance

The Town staff strive to ensure the parks and recreational areas are at their best. This includes planting, pruning and removal of dead or diseased trees. It is the Town's responsibility to maintain trees located on Town boulevards. The Town conducts formal inspections of all boulevard trees, which generates a list of pruning, removal and planting.

To report a dead or damaged tree or one that is broken or diseased, please contact the Town Office at 780-961-3773. These requests are recorded, and will be inspected and scheduled for repair based on their level of severity.
