Bylaw Enforcement Officers

Bylaw Enforcement Officers ensure bylaws are followed and traffic violations are minimized by patrolling the community and responding to complaints.

Filing a Bylaw Complaint

Residents wishing to lodge a complaint about a potential bylaw infraction or violation should notify the Town of Legal Office.

All complaints are addressed in a timely manner and on a priority basis.

A Bylaw Complaint Form is available for download and can be submitted in any of the following ways:

  • Email to main@legal.ca
  • Fax to 780-961-4133
  • Drop off at the Town of Legal Office, 5021 50 St

The personal information collected on the Bylaw Complaint form is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and is used solely for the purpose of carrying out the program. Questions about the collection of this informaton can be directed to the FOIP Coordinator at 780-961-3773.

Legal Fire Department

The Legal Fire Department is operated by a dedicated group of individuals who give tirelessly of their time and efforts to provide and exemplary service to the Town and surrounding areas.

The Legal Fire Department is looking for new members to join their volunteer team. Required training is provided by the department. Please call Tracy at 780-961-2444. Resumes may be submitted by email to firechief@legal.ca.

There are currently no Fire Bans in the Town of Legal.

Fraud Awareness Information

The RCMP is Canada's national police service, providing federal law enforcement services in detachments across the country. The Town of Legal contracts the RCMP to provide local police services for its citizens.

In Alberta, the RCMP serves as the provincial police force, as is the case in all provinces except Ontario and Quebec. The RCMP enforce both provincial statutes and the Criminal Code of Canada.

The detachment services both rural and urban areas. Morinville and area is policed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week,. The office hours are: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. In an emergency, call 911.
